Grant Hiura has been a lifelong member of the bleeding disorders community. Diagnosed with severe hemophilia A at birth, he grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, where he was heavily involved with the Hemophilia Foundation of Northern California and attended Camp Hemotion as both a camper and counselor. In 2013, he moved to New York City to work at the National Hemophilia Foundation (NHF), where he worked until 2016 as an Education Specialist developing and managing educational programs such as the National Youth Leadership Institute and Steps for Living.
Grant received his BA in Molecular and Cell Biology at the University of California, Berkeley, and his Master of Public Health (MPH) from the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health. He currently works as a Data Manager/Statistical Programmer at Columbia University Irving Medical Center in the Division of General Medicine, where he is primarily involved with the data integrity and data analysis of various cohort studies exploring lung disease epidemiology. Grant also plays jazz piano and loves going to jam sessions in NYC.
